MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON

LOOSE THESE CHAINS

Alpha is presently working on a documentary on Angola State Prison in Louisiana. Angola is a maximum security prison with over five thousand inmates and eighteen thousand acres of land.

In January, 2007, we went inside the prison to record inmates singing and playing gospel style music. The audio was recorded by Omega Arts owner Larry Howard. Larry played for the 1970's southern rock group GRINDERSWITCH and still plays music and is now a minister.

Larry invited Alpha into the prison to capture the events on video. We spent five days recording various prison groups from all over Louisiana. Some were bused in and were wearing shackles, handcuffs, and chains. Singers, guitar players, keyboards and drums, and a killer version of "AMAZING GRACE" by a saxophone player.

The music and singing that came from these recordings is remarkable. Some were down right exceptional. CD NOW AVAILABLE! See the link at the top of this page for more information and to purchase the cd.
